Enjoy your next vacation at Ventura Pines Cabin near the shores of Lake Michigan in historic and charming Holland, Michigan. This stunning custom log home is constructed of solid white cedar. It is the epitome of rustic elegance and well appointed with a heated swimming pool, hardwood floors, gas fireplace, log beams and columns, stained-glass windows, granite countertops, beautiful bathrooms with heated floors, and unique outdoor spaces consisting of a screened front porch, huge back deck, pool deck, and park-like backyard.

The cabin is situated on 1.22 wooded acres on the east side of Lakeshore Drive and has a cozy and comfortable ambiance even though it is spacious with over 3500 square feet of living area. A vacation at the cabin allows you to enjoy the water in two different ways: a large 18x36 heated private swimming pool with deep end, Lake Michigan beach access within walking distance, and many other great places and beaches nearby. Ventura Pines Cabin can sleep up to 12+ people and has 6 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and 2 laundry rooms.

Main Floor

The rustic cabin feeling starts when you enter the front door into a large foyer area that overlooks the living room with log timbers and soaring tongue-in-groove ceiling; gas fireplace with two story stone chimneys; stained-glass windows; leather sectional reclining couch and 40 inch LCD television with cable. The fully equipped kitchen and dining area have oak flooring; a large center island with seating; hickory cabinets; granite countertops; plenty of counter and storage space; a built-in desk; and triple French doors to a large deck overlooking the park-like backyard. The dining room opens to both the kitchen and living room and has a dining table that extends to seat up to 10 people. A spacious laundry/mudroom and cabana bathroom are conveniently located right off the kitchen. Also on the main floor are two bedrooms (each with a queen bed). A bathroom with whirlpool tub, a shower tiled in stone and glass, a marble counter, and a heated tile floor. The outdoor decks surround the main floor on 3 sides, and the pool is accessible from this level through the locking pool gate on the back deck.

Upper Level

Upstairs is a wonderful and sunny loft area that overlooks the living room; two more large bedrooms (one with a queen bed and one with 3 doubles); a special room for kids with a sloped ceiling with lots of kid’s toys, books, and small furniture; a bathroom with a 6-foot tub/shower and stained-glass window featuring a sailboat, and a second laundry room with stackable Washer and Dryer.

Lower Level Basement

There is plenty of space to spread out as the walkout lower level has a bedroom that sleeps 5 in two doubles beds and one twin bed and a recreation room that features a sectional couch, a flat-screen 40” TV (with a game console, Xbox, and games), game table for cards, pool table that is convertible to ping pong and air hockey. There is a sliding glass door from the rec room to the backyard. The lower level also has a two-car garage and entry door to the mud room adjacent to the garage.

Outdoors

Enjoy the out-of-doors in many ways: on the rocking chairs on the large wraparound screened porch; swimming, playing, or floating in the private heated in-ground pool; lounging on the chairs in the pool deck area that is fenced in for safety and privacy; enjoying the fresh air and sunshine on the large back deck overlooking the pool and yard; playing games in the grassy and park-like backyard; napping or reading on the screened porch chaise lounge chairs, or making s’mores around the fire pit. Enjoy the extensive area bike path system on the bikes that are also available for your use, including adult and youth bikes and a bike trailer that seats two little kids. Several parks nearby offer great beaches and lake access, playgrounds, fields, and picnic areas. Make your next vacation a VENTURA one!

Bedrooms / Beds

Two main floor bedrooms each have a queen-sized bed and log beams on the ceiling. There are three bedrooms on the 2nd floor, one with a queen-sized bed, another with 3 double beds, and the kid's playroom/bedroom with sloped ceiling, teepee, kid’s toys, and books, and also has 2 twin-sized beds that are lower to the floor. The lower level basement has two double beds and a twin bed. Maximum overnight occupancy is 12+ people, accommodated in 3 queen beds, 5 doubles, and 3 twins.

Ventura Pines Cabin is the sister property to Ventura Pines Cottage, located within easy walking distance across Lakeshore Drive 1000 feet to the north. These two properties are available together for summer vacations with extended family and friends, family reunions, and other special events.

Availability and Rates

Summer weeks are available from Saturday to Saturday with rates ranging from $4500 to $7000. Additional fees may apply to large groups. Please see the availability calendar on the VRBO link to check rates and availability, or contact us directly by phone or email. Reduced rates are available in the off-season, and monthly winter rates are available upon request. Effective 10/1/23, Park Township will no longer allow short-term rentals.

Consequently, Ventura Pines Cabin will be available after 10/1/23 as a “medium-term rental” to guests in conjunction with a 28-day minimum lease. Summer monthly rates starting in 2024 will range from $10,000 - $15,000 for a 30-day stay in June, July, and August. Discounts may be available depending on the number of guests and the actual # of nights you intend to stay during the 28-day minimum lease period. Ventura Pines

Public Beaches Located Near Ventura Pines Cabin

Ventura Pines Cabin has many nearby beaches and parks for you to enjoy, several within walking distance, and others to which you can drive or ride a bike. Please see the descriptions & directions below, and note that Lake Michigan water levels are near-record high, and there may be some erosion, limited or no beach access, exposed seawalls, etc. Please note that the homes & driveways across the street are private. Please do not walk up anyone’s driveway to see the lake or access the beach, as you would be trespassing on private property.

Kouw Park

This 3.7-acre park has 200 feet of beachfront on Lake Michigan at the end of Van Buren Road. The park features improved facilities, including a public beach, a deck overlooking the lake, picnic areas with BBQ grills, volleyball courts, playground equipment, restrooms, and parking. Feel free to ride bikes provided at the cabin to this park and use the locks provided to secure to bike rack. Directions: turn right out of the driveway. Kouw Park is located on Lakeshore Drive, about 1.7 miles north.

Tunnel Park

Kids love this park for the Dune Run and playground! Along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, this popular 22-acre park is an excellent place for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. In addition to the unique tunnel through a dune, this park has a children’s playground complete with a dune climb and a dune stairway with scenic views of Lake Michigan. Open April 1 through October 31 from 7 am - 10 pm. Motor vehicle parking fees apply, and bikes are free. Directions: 66 Lakeshore Drive, Holland. Turn left out of the driveway and south for about 3 miles. 5-minute car drive, 20–25 minutes by bike.

Ottawa Beach (Holland) State Park

This must-see park is a 5-10 minute drive from the cabin or a 45-minute bike ride. This famous park offers excellent views of “Big Red,” Holland’s historic lighthouse, and has an expansive, sandy beach on Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. There are beautiful beaches, campgrounds, picnic tables, fire pits and grills, beach volleyball courts, and a beach house. The pier and walkway along the harbor channel are popular spots for fishing and beautiful views of sailboats, sunsets, and the Big Red lighthouse. A concession stand and store sell food, beach items, and souvenirs. Kayak, canoe, and stand-up paddleboard rentals are available at the Macatawa Boathouse in the Lake Macatawa portion of the park. The park is divided into two units, one on Lake Michigan and the other on Lake Macatawa. DIRECTIONS: 2215 Ottawa Beach ROAD. Turn left (south) out of the driveway, then right in about 4 miles, then another right. The fee to enter and park.

Closest Walking Distance Beach is 1500 Feet South of Cabin at Camp Geneva Border

This is a “rustic” access within walking distance from the cabin via 15-foot wide access owned by Park Township, located 1500 feet south of the cabin. It may not be suitable for people with limited mobility, like small children or older adults, as there are no stairs to the beach. Enjoy sunsets from the top of the bluff. IMPORTANT: Please stay on the 15” frontage between fences on the beach, denoting Camp Geneva & home border to the north. No Parking or bikes are allowed here. DIRECTIONS: walk out of the cabin driveway to the bike path, turn left and proceed 1500 feet to the south. Slightly over the top of the hill, you will see a chain link fence across the street on the border of Camp Geneva. Along this fence line, a 15-foot wide access owned by Park Township may be utilized for lake access. Carefully and quickly cross Lakeshore Drive, as the 55 MPH speed limit of cars and limited sight distance to the north. Once safely across Lakeshore Drive, proceed up the dirt path along the chain link fence to the wooded path for about 500 feet to the top of the bluff with no Stairs. UPDATE – This beach may have limited or no access due to Erosion.

New Holland Street Access

Walking distance of about ½ mile north is the beach access at the end of New Holland Street. There are no stairs, no parking or facilities here. DIRECTIONS: turn right out of the driveway, 2 blocks to the north, and turn left (one way, so not cars!), a path directly ahead.

North Beach Access (Restricted) - 1000 Feet North at Ventura Pines Cottage

This is private access reserved for COTTAGE guests only and is permitted to CABIN guests only if COTTAGE guest has invited you. Do not trespass here, please! Directions: turn right on Lakeshore for 1000 feet and cross the street. Ventura Pines Cottage has stairs to the lake and 125 feet of private lake frontage.

Ransom Street Park

Not a beach, but an excellent playground for kids and an easy bike ride away. Directions: right out of the driveway, right on Ransom, ¾ miles on the right. 16500 Ransom Street.

OLIVE SHORES, WINDSNEST, ROSY MOUND, KIRK PARK & GRAND HAVEN are highly recommended, with large walkable beaches and hiking trails.
