The Church Cottage at Ventura Pines is right next door to Ventura Pines Cottage, sharing the same driveway and stairs to the beach. Church Cottage guests will enjoy beach access and sunset views within 25 feet of lake frontage of the home. This cottage sleeps up to eight (adults only) in three bedrooms and a spacious sleeping loft.

The “old Church” at Ventura Pines has been lovingly preserved as a family home for over 100 years. It was an abandoned Methodist country church, purchased in the early 1910s by Albion Hobson, a Chicago businessman, and transformed into a summer cottage. In 1995, the current owner added to the original structure to create a year-round home with 4 bedrooms, 4 baths, and modern conveniences. The kitchen combines marble countertops, a porcelain sink with a copper faucet, period cupboards, a gas stove, and a French-door refrigerator. The great room is the original church sanctuary with vaulted ceilings and is furnished with antiques. The house is surrounded by decks and a screened porch that creates a lovely outdoor living area for you to enjoy.  Step back in time and enjoy the warmth and serenity of yesteryear.

AVAILABILITY AND RATES:

Summer stays are available with rates ranging from $4500 to $7000 for a seven-night stay for up to 8 adults. Reduced rates are available in the off-season, and monthly winter rates are available upon request. Please note that effective 10/1/23, Park Township will no longer allow short-term rentals. However, it is expected that The Church Cottage at Ventura Pines will be “grandfathered in” and allowed to continue to be available weekly or monthly, as it has been used for short-term rentals since before the 1974 ordinance took effect.
